Meet The Team

SHANE founded McGuigan Gym in 2012 after a successful amateur boxing career and education in strength and conditioning. He is now one of the world's leading boxing coaches, winning the 2016 Boxing News, BBBofC and BWAA boxing trainer of the Year. The youngest lead trainer of a boxing world champion in history at just 25 in 2014, Shane has since gone on to guide his second boxer to a world title in 2017. An extremely hardworking and focused individual, Shane demands the absolute most from his athletes and staff around him which has led to such a rapid rise to the top for McGuigan Gym. Shane is regularly invited to make public appearances and has growing media attention owing to his physical and wellness training programmes and skills.

DARYL joined The McGuigan Gym team in 2013. A qualified UKSCA strength and conditioning coach he takes a holistic approach to health and fitness, planning and managing stringent strength and conditioning training programs while focusing on the overall mental and physical well-being of his athletes and clients to reduce injury risk.

Daryl's training journey began in 2004, after qualifying as a personal trainer and working with world renowned clubs such as Virgin Active, LA fitness and KX gym. His client base is broad and diverse ranging from business owners to elite athletes.

Daryl's passion is to develop his knowledge of the sport and fitness industry. Outside of his rigorous training schedule, he regularly attends seminars and courses to stay up to date.

JOSH started training with Shane in 2015 as a prospect featherweight boxer. Josh excelled as a boxer and by 2016 he had won five fights, two of them being by KO. During this time, Josh became increasingly impressed by Shane’s training skills and how strength, body conditioning and nutrition aided his and his peer’s ability to become champion fighters. So, in mid-2016, with a keenness to learn more about the art of boxing training Josh took a break from fighting to gain qualifications in personal training and obtain a professional boxers training license.

Josh is currently working on creating training programs that focus on strength, body conditioning and weight management, applying both his new skills and those he has learnt from working at McGuigan Gym.

Josh continues to have a promising future as a boxer; alongside working as a boxing trainer at McGuigan Gym, he has plans to be back in the ring as a fighter soon.

CHRIS joined Mcguigan Gym mid-2017 as a professional boxer after impressing Shane Mcguigan as a sparring partner for Super middleweight world champion George Groves and former Cruiserweight and Heavyweight world champion David Haye.

Chris has worked in the fitness industry since 2009 after qualifying as a Level 3 personal trainer and ran a fitness Academy while training professional boxers providing their strength + conditioning, nutrition and boxing programmes.

Alongside his work as a fighter and trainer, Chris is a keen nutritionist and is always looking to further his knowledge to improve himself in the industry.
